This calculator applies the rulings of the Saudi Permanent Committee for Research and Fatwa (al-Lajnah ad-Da’imah) and Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen. Many Ahl-e-Hadith readers follow these scholars, but we have not found a Pakistani Ahl-e-Hadith fatwa confirming every point, so check with your own scholar.

How do Ahl-e-Hadith scholars calculate zakat? Following the Saudi Permanent Committee, zakat is due on gold and silver jewellery that reaches the nisab, even if worn, and cash is added to gold and silver and measured by the lower of the two nisabs.
Rules used in this calculator
- Jewellery: “The more correct view is that zakat on jewellery is obligatory if it reaches the nisab” (IslamQA 19901, citing the Permanent Committee).
- Cash with gold and silver: cash may be added to gold or silver to complete the nisab, and cash is zakatable when it reaches the lower of the two nisabs (IslamQA 201807, citing the Permanent Committee and Ibn Uthaymeen).
- Debts: not deducted. “Being in debt does not mean that zakah should not be paid” (Permanent Committee); Shaykh Ibn Baz called this the more correct opinion and Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen explained that zakat is tied to the wealth while a debt is a personal obligation (IslamQA 22426). A debt that is due now and being demanded can be paid off first, which reduces what you own on your zakat date.
We have not found a published fatwa from a Pakistani Ahl-e-Hadith institution on every point above. If your scholar differs, the comparison table shows the other views.

Jewellery (zevar) in the Ahl-e-Hadith view
Scholars who count jewellery rely on the hadiths in which the Prophet ﷺ asked women whether they paid zakat on their gold bracelets and warned those who did not (Abu Dawud 1563), and on the general verses on hoarding gold and silver. So every piece of gold and silver jewellery is counted, worn or not, as long as the owner’s total gold or silver (or its value with cash) reaches the nisab. Only the pure metal is valued: choose 22K or 21K in the calculator. Stones and making charges are left out. The zakat is due from the woman who owns the jewellery; her husband may pay it for her with her permission.
Worked example in rupees (Ahl-e-Hadith)
Hafsa lives in Lahore. On her zakat date she has Rs 3,00,000 in the bank, 5 tola of 22K jewellery she wears, and owes Rs 1,00,000 to her brother. Take an example rate of Rs 4,12,500 a tola for 22K gold.
- Jewellery: 5 × Rs 4,12,500 = Rs 20,62,500, counted although worn.
- Cash: Rs 3,00,000, added to the gold.
- Debt: not subtracted. If the brother is asking for it now, she can repay it before her zakat date, which lowers her cash.
- Zakat: 2.5% of Rs 23,62,500 = Rs 59,063.
A Hanafi with the same wealth would also count the jewellery but would subtract the debt (zakat Rs 56,563). A Shafi’i, Maliki or Hanbali would leave the worn jewellery out, which changes the answer completely.
How this view differs from the four madhabs
- It agrees with the Hanafi madhab that worn jewellery is zakatable.
- It agrees with the Shafi’i madhab that debts are not subtracted.
- It agrees with the Hanbali madhab in taking the lower nisab for cash and in adding gold, silver and cash together.
- Because it combines the strictest answer on both jewellery and debts, it often gives the highest result in the comparison.
Using this calculator, step by step
- Enter cash at home, bank balances, committee money and savings certificates.
- Enter all gold and silver jewellery, worn or kept, with its weight and karat.
- Leave debts out unless you want to see the difference in the comparison; they are not subtracted in this view.
- Press calculate. Gold, silver and cash are added and compared with the lower nisab, which is silver today, about Rs 2,96,694.
- Enter the bank’s 1 Ramadan deduction, if any, under Already paid.
Ahl-e-Hadith scholars in Pakistan and India follow the Qur’an and Sunnah directly rather than one of the four madhabs, and they often rely on the fatwas of Shaykh Ibn Baz, Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen and the Saudi Permanent Committee, which is why this calculator follows them.

Frequently asked questions
Ahl-e-Hadith ke nazdeek zevar par zakat hai?
Saudi Permanent Committee ke fatwe ke mutabiq (jis par yeh calculator chalta hai), nisab tak pohanchne wale zevar par zakat wajib hai, chahe pehna jaye.
Can cash be added to gold to complete the nisab?
Yes, according to the Permanent Committee and Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen.
Ahl-e-Hadith ke nazdeek qarz minus hota hai?
Is calculator mein nahi, Saudi Permanent Committee aur Shaykh Ibn Baz ke mutabiq. Jo qarz abhi maanga ja raha ho use zakat ki tareekh se pehle ada kar dein to aap ki naqdi kam ho jati hai.
Do Ahl-e-Hadith pay zakat on jewellery they wear every day?
In the view this calculator follows, yes: the Permanent Committee holds that gold and silver jewellery is zakatable once it reaches the nisab, worn or not, at 2.5% of the value of its pure metal.
Ahl-e-Hadith kaunsa nisab lete hain?
Sona, chandi aur naqdi mila kar dono nisab mein se kam wala, jo aaj chandi ka nisab hai.
Is there a Pakistani Ahl-e-Hadith fatwa behind this calculator?
Not on every point yet. It follows the Saudi Permanent Committee, Shaykh Ibn Baz and Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen, whom many Ahl-e-Hadith readers follow. Confirm with your own scholar.
Ahl-e-Hadith ke nazdeek bachon ke maal par zakat hai?
Is calculator ke mutabiq haan, jo Saudi Permanent Committee aur aksar ulama ki rai hai: bache ka maal nisab tak pohanche aur saal guzar jaye to sarparast us ke maal se zakat ada kare.
Ahl-e-Hadith aur Hanafi zakat mein kya farq hai?
Dono pehne hue zevar par zakat kehte hain. Farq yeh hai ke Hanafi fiqh mein jo qarz abhi ada karna ho woh minus hota hai, jabke is calculator ke Ahl-e-Hadith hisab mein (Saudi Permanent Committee ke mutabiq) qarz minus nahi hota, is liye natija aksar zyada aata hai.
