Nisab by My Zakat Tool

Change data-currency="PKR" to USD, GBP, SAR, AED, INR, BDT or any of about 50 currencies.

How to add it

  1. Copy the code above.
  2. In WordPress, add a “Custom HTML” block (or a Custom HTML widget in your sidebar) and paste it. On other sites, paste it where you want the box to appear.
  3. Keep the small “Nisab by My Zakat Tool” line: it tells your visitors where the numbers come from.

About the numbers

  • The silver nisab is 52.5 tola (612.35 g) and the gold nisab 7.5 tola (87.48 g). Hanafi scholars use the silver nisab for cash.
  • Prices are international spot rates; local jewellers’ prices are a little higher.
  • The box is an estimate for guidance, not a fatwa; see our disclaimer.

What the box shows

  • Today’s silver nisab (52.5 tola) and gold nisab (7.5 tola) in the currency you picked, worked out from the hourly international spot price.
  • The price of 1 tola of 24K gold and 1 tola of silver.
  • The time the rate was last refreshed, so visitors can see it is current.
  • The credit line links back to this site, where visitors can calculate their own zakat for any madhab.

Choosing the currency

Ready-made code is given above for Pakistani rupees, British pounds and US dollars. To show another currency, change PKR in data-currency to any of the about 50 three-letter codes we support, such as INR, BDT, GBP, USD, EUR, AED, SAR, MYR or ZAR. A mosque in the UK would use GBP; one in the UAE would use AED.

Privacy and speed

The box loads one small script from our site and reads the cached rate from our server. It sets no cookies, shows no ads, and does not collect anything about your visitors. It loads after the rest of your page, and if our server cannot be reached the box stays empty instead of breaking your page; the credit line still links to the live nisab page.

Who uses it

The widget is made for mosque and madrasa websites, Islamic centre newsletters, zakat committees and bloggers who write about zakat before Ramadan. Many mosques put it on their Ramadan or zakat page next to their own bank details for zakat collection; we do not collect or handle any zakat ourselves.

For masjid committees

Every Ramadan the imam is asked the same question after Jumu’ah: what is the nisab this year? The box answers it on the masjid’s own website, in the local currency, every day of the year, and the committee does not have to update anything. Ways committees use it:

  • On the zakat or Ramadan page of the masjid website, next to the masjid’s own bank details for zakat and fitrana. We never collect or handle zakat; the money goes only where your committee says.
  • On the notice board. Open your page with the box (or this page) and print it: press Ctrl+P on a computer, or Share and then Print on a phone. The box prints with the date and time of the rate, so people can see how current it is. Print a fresh copy each week in Ramadan, because gold and silver prices move.
  • In the Jumu’ah announcement or WhatsApp group. A line the committee can read or paste: “This week the zakat nisab is about Rs 2,96,950 by the silver measure. Work out your own zakat for your madhab at myzakattool.com.” Change the figure to the one your box shows.
  • UK, US and other masajid use the GBP or USD code above, or change the currency code. The tola figures help families from South Asia; the gram figures are in the nisab page the credit line links to.

Masjid committee ke liye: yeh box apni masjid ki website par lagayen, Ramazan mein har hafte print kar ke notice board par lagayen, aur Jumu’ah ke elaan mein nisab bata den. Hisab ke liye log Urdu calculator ya zakat kaise nikalen dekh sakte hain. Kisi aur design ya zaban mein box chahiye to humein likhen.

More tips for site owners

  • The widget shows the nisab only. For a full calculation, link visitors to the zakat calculator, or in Pakistan to the Pakistan calculator.
  • Silver is shown first because Hanafi scholars, and the Hanbali and Ahl-e-Hadith views, use the silver nisab for cash. Read which nisab applies.
